Mortars are pieces that explore the ritual of feeding recovered through the body act. Stone mortars are simple manual tools used since pre-Columbian cultures. They are  used to extract the essences that plants have created through water, the sun and minerals from the earth.  Their use is related to medicinal, religious and food practices.

Stone, through its materiality and weight, allows us to extract in cold the substances contained in plants, without destroying their flavors, colors and internal structures. This allows our body to absorb the nutrients and energy that the plant takes from the sun. All the mortars are made of granite, extracted from two quarries near Lima: Quirio and Huaycán. The handles are made of wood, a material that is warm to the touch of the skin, and an allusion to the mineral-plant relationship, of our mountain range and the Amazon forest. A small object that also reminds us of our contrasting territory.
