Mortars are manual tools used in various collective rituals in pre-Columbian societies. Their use is diverse, both in religious ceremonies and for the preparation of food and medicine. Through them we extract the essences that plants and minerals have created, with the interaction of water, sun, air and earth.
Food, healing and ritual are contained in a single object with three concavities. It is with the act of extracting the living substances, the coloured dyes, the tastes, the smells, the medicines, that our body – with a repetitive and rhythmic movement – is related to an ancient ritual.
