Rumicolca reflects on the process of transformation of materials; from their natural state, as part of a landscape, to becoming a building material. The work suggests a possible continuity in the processes of transformation of matter and landscape, from the extraction, cutting, polishing and geometrisation of space and matter.
Rumicolca is a piece created from a visit to the Inca quarry that bears its name, located near the district of Andahuaylillas in the city of Cuzco. The Rumicolca stones, composed of the mineral Andesite, were used to build many of the temples in the city of Cuzco.
