Looking downwards from the air and digging up the earth are different processes, though both create large-scale images of the territory we inhabit. Looking from the air reveals the traces and accidents of the earth’s surface on the horizontal plane, while through the geological gaze we observe the superimpositions of sediments over thousands of years. Beyond building an object, the intention was to create pieces like territories or places, which we can inhabit and relate to our body. The territory looked at from above or excavated reveals its unfinished state, open, fluid and in constant transformation.
